Although there was much music to choose from in the clubs around New Orleans, there was only one place to be on Thursday night...Tipitina's. The Radiators were playing a private party for the Krewe of Snafu, the inner sanctum of the band's fanbase. The band ripped though a number of rarely heard gems as well as special songs written exclusively for this night. The Re-Birth Brass band kicked off the evenings festivities with a second-line parade around the club, and at set break, Mardi Gras Indians mysteriously appeared in the middle of the street stopping traffic in their exquisitely-plummed costumes, and the whole party joined in a massive drum circle. It was one of the best nights of music over the entire weekend, and certainly one of the best "alternative" shows the Rads have ever played...truly a cosmic experience. |
