Most everyone's heard their cover of Snoop's "Gin & Juice" by now -- it's the mislabeled mp3 that was widely circulated and most-often attributed to Phish. Well, the band in question is actually The Gourds from Austin, Texas. They've been around for over five years now and often dig deep into the Classic Rock and Bluegrass canons to spice up their set lists. Rollicking along like The Rolling Thunder Review, The Gourds honky-tonk their way through freewheeling originals and country classics. This night in Missoula celebrates the release of their latest album, Cow Fish Fowl or Pig. "Ants on the Melon," "1st in Line," and the show-opener "Jorge," are standouts from the new album. In addition to the raucous "Gin & Juice" encore, check out the bonus tracks for The Gourd's covers of Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breath," and Dylan's "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" and "Oh Sister" from The Blue Heron in March.
