Launched in December 2002, the groundbreaking Live Phish Downloads service set the standard for private label, direct band-to-fan online live music distribution. No band had ever before offered every note that they play for download within 48 hours of each performance. Fans flocked to the service immediately, and Phish responded by offering more shows from the Phish Archives and from solo projects by Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, and Vida Blue. In another unprecedented turn of events, Phish announced that they would donate all of the 2004 Phish net profits from Live Phish Downloads to their charity, The Mockingbird Foundation.

Phish outsourced their entire online music distribution business to nugs.net, including e-commerce, user registration and authentication, web site hosting, content delivery, encoding, live concert recording, post-production, customer support, and royalty reporting.

Dave Matthews was one of the few major artists who never released his music to any of the music download services, opting instead to partner with nugs.net to create his own private label download service. As part of an agreement between Musictoday and nugs.net, Dave Matthews and many of Musictoday's clients now offer album and concert downloads via the Musictoday storefront and nugs.net's digital fulfilment services.

The Bonnaroo Music Festival, held each year in Manchester, TN, drew 90,000 music lovers from all over the world in June of 2004. Over 80 artists performed, ranging from Dave Matthews to Trey Anastasio to The Dead and Bob Dylan. Bonnaroo partnered with nugs.net and Musictoday to create LiveBonnaroo.com, a private-label download service offering high quality downloads of many of the performances from Bonnaroo. Multitrack recordings culled from six stages were mixed by Third Wave Productions on a 24 hour production schedule in four live mix rooms backstage throughout the weekend. Upon final mix approval from each artist, nugs.net mastered and encoded each performance and published the music for download on LiveBonnaroo.com. Among the 30 participating artists were Dave Matthews & Friends, The Dead, Galactic, My Morning Jacket, Del McCoury, and the North Mississippi Allstars Hill Country Review.

Upon their return to the road after a 15 month hiatus, Widespread Panic teamed up with nugs.net to launch LiveWidespreadPanic.com. Select shows will be available throughout the band's 2005 tour. Panic bass player Dave Schools says, "We have always tried to provide our fans with what they want, so due to the overwhelming demand for tickets to the Atlanta Fox concerts we thought making these recordings available for free for a short period of time would be a great way to satisfy that demand. This also allows us to begin the process of fulfilling another top priority fan desire which is making high quality recordings of Panic shows available to everyone quickly and efficiently. We look forward to a fruitful relationship with nugs.net this spring and, as always, we count on fan input for positive direction with this service."
